The original image above badly needed to be sharpened and to so I started by applying a high pass filter. As you'll notice with the rollover effect, her hair eyes and lips became a lot sharper. I then applied a layer mask and used a soft brush to retain the original color and texture of her forehead, nose, cheeks and chin.
Sax PlayerTo give this sax player image a jazzier feel, I first isolated him from the background using the pen tool. I made a duplicate copy of his silhouette and filled it with purple then placed it on a separate layer behind him. I again used the pen tool to remove the original saxophone from his hands. I then converted the man to greyscale and increased the contrast to make him darker. Lastly I recreated the fingers in his left hand since they were blocked by the sax in the original image.
