Frick Collection Pencil Trays

I was commissioned by The Frick Collection in New York City to make these wood pencil trays for their ongoing drawing programs. These black walnut trays were custom made to organize nine pencil types and two eraser sections while being stackable in drawers when not in use. To see the trays in person you can attend the museum's free First Friday events or ongoing drawing programs.

It was an honor to make something used regularly by so many talented artists in such a prestigious museum.

The trays were constructed using traditional box joinery and half-lap joinery for both durability and design purposes.
